SIXTH FORM BALL

Imisi and Alex are two of the boarders that attended the ball last Friday. I personally enjoyed the event very much and as a year 12 can't wait for my End of Sixth Form Ball.

Despite their serious faces they enjoyed the evening very much

A nice meal, good music and your friends is the perfect way of saying goodbye to this school year which has brought many moments of tears and happiness, specially happiness. We have seen many physical changes to the boarding house this year, heavy investment in new and better facilities which have really helped and benefited the boarding house making it a more enjoyable and safer place.

Thanks for reading :)

SUMMER IS HERE!

As summer starts to show up so do we boarders. We can see the big smiles brought to our European friends. Sunny days are valued a lot and we like to make the most of them so while some prefer to sunbathe and talk other prefer to do some sport. we have had some rain over the past days but we will soon be able to catch more rays.

We hope for some more sunny & happy days.

A FAMILY

One of my favourite things about the boarding house is that despite the many cultural differences we might have every year the boarding house turns into a family. Year after year I've seen people from opposite sides of the world becoming best friends. This sense of axcting as a community is what makes boarders feel strong and protected. We are a unit.

A perfect example of the sympathy seen in the boarding house is this cake that Maria made for Seyi on her birthday. She put effort and dedication and for what I can see it turned out to be very tasty. this is also not a one time thing, every boarder is treated like a king/queen on their birthdays and everyone makes sure of this.

A winning Friday

These four boarders came third at the Fashion Week show in the city of Lincoln. Sofia, Marta, Imisi and Olivia were the youngest team in the Lions Quiz by far but still managed to reach the podium. The excitement in their faces (maybe not so much in Imisi's) shows how happy they were to take part and win. We only have winners here at De Aston School and this is not the first nor the last prove of it.

Here we have all four participants including Sofia showing off their bronze medal

The girls were specially excited about the prizes they won.

One thing that learn from this story is that hard work and teamwork can ease your way up to success.

Congratulations from De Aston Boarding House to everyone who took part.

Happy Hooves Horses

A couple of weekends ago, us, De Aston Boarders went on a trip to  the Animal Husbandry at ‘Happy Hooves Horses’ centre.  All the boarders helped look after the Heavy Horses. It was an amazing experience and looking at it from a Sixth Former's point of view I think that it encourages teamwork amongst the younger students.

All boarders agreed that it was hard work but enjoyable and fun.

Here is Leaha enthusiastically smiling and waving at the camera.

Omolayo seems to be enjoying the horse's company!

Marta is a bit more confident and personal with the horse

Ignacio is a very hardworking young man and  for what I can see can collect quite a lot of hay in just one wheelbarrow.

Maria also helped very much collecting hay
